“Ah hope so,” says Rogue. “Ah seem to be doomed to disappointment in mah expectations.”
They’re still in the parked car, and he slides across the seat. He’s pressed to her side with an arm across the seat, the other taking a hand from the steering wheel. He runs his thumb along her knuckles. “What’re y’expectations, Chere?” It’s a loaded question. Rouge has always been trouble. And he’s always asking for trouble.
Rogue takes a deep breath. Part of her is flaring up like a big old danger sign. It’s never a good idea to load men with the burden of feminine expectations.
But… he’s actually asking, so…
“A man who stays,” she says quietly. “A man Ah can trust. A man who’s patient. A man who’s faithful.”
“Oh do you?” says Rogue, slipping into the car. “The challenge is all yours, Mr. LeBeau.”
In the passenger seat, he makes a point of resuming his hand’s earlier placement and habits on her leg. “Who’d wanna lost dat fight?
Rogue’s eyes darkened. “You’d be surprised,” she said, a bit grimly as she steered the car back towards their hotel.
Remy’s hand freezes, stopping the teasing dots he’s drumming, before moving further down to her knee with a reassuring squeeze. “Only a fool’d leave y’ t’yourself.” His eyes flash. “All of the things I am, ain’ one of those.”

“Yes, she’s feeling good and guilty now,” said Rogue. “Plus, Ah’ve got a tracker on that boat. If she doesn’t head straight to Haven, Ah’ll know about it and send Cannonball on her tail.”
Remy kisses the corner of her mouth with a hum before side stepping to give her access to the car. “Hope I can keep y’attention better than y’little device.”
“Oh do you?” says Rogue, slipping into the car. “The challenge is all yours, Mr. LeBeau.”
Rogue places her hands on his chest. “Ah’ve still got mah car, you know. But no, Ah wasn’t planning to go back tonight. Ah promised you we’d pick up where we left off… remember?”He smirks at the lift in her voice. “Oh I do,” he assures her, bringing his other arm around her back. “I meant Cessily, dough. Leavin’ her all unsupervised, that t’wised choice?”
“Yes, she’s feeling good and guilty now,” said Rogue. “Plus, Ah’ve got a tracker on that boat. If she doesn’t head straight to Haven, Ah’ll know about it and send Cannonball on her tail.”
Rogue gives him a grateful look and steers Cessily away for a private talking to. The girl is not happy to get a scolding, but she agrees to take the boat back to Haven and resume the discussion in the morning.Rogue doesn’t clarify just what the reprecussions are going to be.
Remy stands at the driver’s side, his forearms resting on the open door. The end of the cigarette lights up with his eyes has she walks away from the dock as Cess starts the boat. He takes a last drag as he steps around the door before flicking it into the night to explode. His coat is balled up in the back seat.
“Y’sure ‘bout that, Chere?” He looks over her shoulder at the retreating boat, sliding an arm around her waist as she reaches him. “Might not be headin’ back to Utopia, hein?”
Rogue places her hands on his chest. “Ah’ve still got mah car, you know. But no, Ah wasn’t planning to go back tonight. Ah promised you we’d pick up where we left off… remember?”
Well you’re being impossible! What else am Ah supposed to do?
Mebbe figure out I’m upset?
Ah thought Ah did?
REMY LEBEAU —-
You’re enough to drive a gal insane.
Don’ yell at me.
Well you’re being impossible! What else am Ah supposed to do?
((I can’t. xD Rogue’s player Elena and I were in The Importance of Being Earnest together and I played Augusta and she was Gwendolyn, so this whole conversation is now one big running joke.
The costume added about 100 lbs. lol. Also that’s my husband.
Elena on the right.))
[[This was the best thing ever. I want to do more high comedy!]]
